Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of Decipon, including the web application, the REST API, and the Chrome browser extension. By accessing or using any Decipon service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, you should not use the service.

Decipon analyzes text content to surface influence tactics and verification gaps. The service scores content across 20 categories of persuasion techniques and provides evidence for each score.

• Authentication: API access requires a valid API key. You are responsible for keeping your key secure.
• Rate limits: API usage is subject to rate limits based on your plan. Exceeding limits may result in temporary throttling.
• Commercial use: Commercial use of the API requires an active paid plan. Free-tier access is intended for evaluation and non-commercial use.
• Uptime: We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance will be communicated in advance where possible.

• Availability: Free analysis is available at /v1/analyze/free, funded by the Public Good Pool. Availability depends on pool balance.
• Rate limit: 3 requests per day per IP address.
• No account required: The free endpoint requires no authentication or account creation.
• No SLA: The free tier is provided on a best-effort basis with no uptime or response time guarantees.

• No account needed: API credits can be purchased without creating an account.
• API key shown once: Your API key is displayed once at purchase. You are responsible for storing it securely.
• Key recovery: If you lose your key, you can recover it using the order reference provided at purchase.
• Non-refundable: Used credits are non-refundable.

• Purpose: Donations fund the Public Good Pool, which provides free analysis access to the public.
• Non-refundable: All donations are non-refundable.
• Receipt: Providing an email for a donation receipt is optional.
• Pool contributions: 10% of B2B invoice revenue is automatically contributed to the Public Good Pool.

Use of the Decipon Chrome extension is subject to these terms as well as the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies.

• The extension requires permission to read page content on sites you visit in order to perform analysis.
• The extension communicates only with the Decipon API and does not send data to third parties.
• You may uninstall the extension at any time through your browser's extension settings.

• Inspiration: Decipon's scoring methodology was inspired by publicly discussed work by Chase Hughes on influence and behavioral analysis. Decipon is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Chase Hughes or any related organizations.
• Decipon software: The Decipon application, API, browser extension, custom ML models, and scoring algorithms are proprietary. All rights reserved.
• Your content: You retain ownership of content you submit for analysis. By submitting content, you grant Decipon a limited license to process it for scoring purposes.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Decipon and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data or use, arising out of your access to or use of the service.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be communicated via the website and, where applicable, via email to registered API users.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Norway.
